A lightweight archive dress combining a mesh corset structure with hand-finished engineered knitted panels, designed and made in England by Alina Stanila.
Developed three-dimensionally on the mannequin rather than from a conventional paper pattern, the piece is constructed to follow the contours of the body while maintaining lightness and transparency. A close-fitting silhouette defines the waist and hips, while the knitted panel construction introduces soft sculptural movement through the lower section.
The corset foundation creates structure through the bodice, while sheer sections and an open back reveal the architectural quality of the garment. Individually hand-finished construction lines define the form and emphasise the relationship between body, textile and silhouette.
Lightweight in handle and delicate in appearance, this piece is designed as an intimate archive work with a refined semi-transparent finish.

Veil explores lightness, contour and transparency through a combination of engineered knit construction and corseted form. Developed directly on the mannequin rather than from a conventional paper pattern, the garment balances softness and structure, with hand-finished knitted panels shaping the body around a lightweight mesh corset foundation.
The silhouette is close fitting and partially sheer, revealing the construction of the garment through areas of transparency and an open back. The result is a refined archive piece in which body, textile and construction remain visibly connected.
