Product Details

A one-off black sculptural dress created through engineered textile construction, designed and made in England by Alina Stanila.
The upper body is constructed to sit close to the form, with contrasting piping tracing sweeping curved lines across the bodice. These lines meet at circular junctions, turning the construction of the garment itself into its defining graphic detail.
The silhouette changes dramatically below the waist. Large individually shaped sections expand outward to create an exaggerated rounded skirt, producing architectural volume while retaining softness and movement within the textile.
The neckline rises into a sculpted collar, while short structured shoulder sections extend the upper silhouette. At the back, a large keyhole opening introduces transparency and negative space, contrasting with the controlled structure of the front.
The exaggerated scale of the lower section is balanced by the narrow waist and closely fitted bodice, creating a silhouette that is simultaneously precise and theatrical.
Each element is individually developed, assembled and finished by hand.

The Story Behind This Piece

Orbit explores the relationship between the body and exaggerated three-dimensional volume through engineered textile construction.
The upper body is closely sculpted, with curved contrast lines radiating across the garment and meeting at circular junctions that reveal the architecture of the construction. From the fitted waist, the silhouette expands dramatically into a rounded sculptural skirt, creating an intentional contrast between containment and volume.
The back opens into a large keyhole, introducing negative space into the fitted upper structure and revealing the body as part of the design. The result is a one-off piece in which textile engineering, silhouette and construction are developed together rather than treated as separate processes.

Size & Fit

Close-fitting through the bodice and waist before expanding into exaggerated rounded volume through the crinoline-supported skirt. Stand collar, open back and back zip fastening. Please refer to the garment measurements before ordering or contact us for fit advice.

Fabric & Care

Engineered knit construction combining viscose, cotton, cotton-blend yarns and monofilament, with a separate structured crinoline beneath the skirt. Hand finished in England.
Due to the specialist construction, delicate monofilament sections and sculptural crinoline structure, professional specialist cleaning is recommended. Do not machine wash, tumble dry or bleach. Store carefully without compressing the skirt volume or structured upper sections, and keep the crinoline supported where possible to preserve its shape.
