Nocturne Sculptural Silk Knit Maxi Gown

A one-off black sculptural maxi gown combining engineered knit construction, exaggerated volume and architectural detailing, designed and made in England by Alina Stanila.
The gown is developed through individually engineered construction rather than conventional cut-and-sew pattern making, creating a silhouette that remains close and structured through the upper body before expanding into dramatic sculptural volume through the full-length skirt.
Silk forms the principal structure of the gown, combined with monofilament to introduce lightness, tension and dimensional shape. Lurex piping traces the construction lines throughout the garment, defining each section and revealing the architecture of the piece.
The silhouette is further defined by sculptural sleeves and pronounced shoulder pads, creating a strong upper profile that balances the exaggerated volume of the lower gown. Gathered and raised sections through the skirt create depth, movement and a highly textured surface.
Finished with a back zip fastening, the gown is constructed and completed entirely by hand. Approximately one month is required to realise a garment of this complexity.

Nocturne explores sculptural volume, engineered textile construction and dark architectural form through a dramatic full-length silhouette.
Developed directly on the mannequin rather than through conventional cut-and-sew methods, the gown combines a close, structured upper body with exaggerated volume through the lower silhouette. Silk and monofilament are brought together with Lurex piping, allowing the construction lines to remain visibly part of the final design.
The result is a one-off black maxi gown with pronounced shoulders, sculptural sleeves and a highly distinctive tiered structure that expands and folds around the body.

Due to the specialist construction, sculptural form and delicate textile structure, professional specialist cleaning is recommended. Do not machine wash, tumble dry or bleach. Store carefully without compressing the shoulder structure or sculptural volume of the gown.
