Amplitude Black & Ivory Engineered Knit Gown

A one-off black and ivory engineered knit gown combining sculptural proportion, contrasting textile surfaces and exaggerated volume, designed and made in England by Alina Stanila.
The gown is developed through individually engineered knitted sections that contour the body before expanding into a dramatic floor-length silhouette. The upper body remains closely sculpted, with pronounced knitted shoulder forms creating architectural volume around the neckline and shoulders.
Contrasting black and ivory panels are defined by viscose and Lurex piping, exposing the construction lines and creating the graphic framework that runs across the bodice, waist and hips. Monofilament is incorporated into the engineered textile construction to introduce lightness, structure and changes in transparency.
Below the hip, the construction shifts dramatically. Gathered black sections create deep vertical texture before transitioning into repeated sculptural ivory forms through the lower gown. The resulting volume changes with movement and gives the piece its distinctive architectural silhouette.
A separate crinoline is included and may be worn beneath the gown to amplify its proportions. Without the crinoline, the skirt falls closer to the body for a softer interpretation of the same design.
Finished with a crew neckline and concealed back zip fastening. Each element is assembled and finished by hand. Approximately one month is required to complete a garment of this complexity.

Amplitude explores proportion, engineered textile construction and exaggerated volume through a dramatic black-and-ivory silhouette.
The gown is developed through individually engineered knitted sections rather than conventional cut-and-sew construction. A close, sculpted upper body is contrasted by pronounced knitted shoulder forms and an increasingly voluminous floor-length skirt.
Silk, viscose, Lurex and monofilament are brought together within the construction, while contrasting piping maps the structure of the garment across the body. The black and ivory sections shift from controlled geometric forms through the bodice into deeply gathered surfaces and repeated sculptural volumes through the lower gown.
A separate crinoline accompanies the piece and can be worn beneath the gown to intensify its architectural volume, or removed for a softer and more fluid silhouette.
Approximately one month is required to engineer, assemble and hand finish the gown.

Due to the specialist textile construction, sculptural knitted elements and separate crinoline, professional specialist cleaning is recommended. Do not machine wash, tumble dry or bleach. Store carefully without compressing the shoulder forms or lower sculptural sections. Store the crinoline separately where possible to preserve its structure.
